Hi WanMil,

yes, LocationHook works as expected, and I also
think the index is the problem.

I have no idea how to fix that, I don't even know what index
is used.

My guess: The housenumner 31 is the first or last on that side of the road,
while 30 on the other side is just one of many. If I got that right,
we save something like "odd numbers from x to y on left", so maybe
the device can only find the x and y value.
I remember that I never used the search like this on my Oregon
because results are wrong. If I leave out the housenumber
the device shows a list containing only a few numbers.

Gerd

> Date: Fri, 27 Dec 2013 11:42:42 +0100
> From: wmgcnfg@web.de
> To: mkgmap-dev@lists.mkgmap.org.uk
> Subject: Re: [mkgmap-dev] Address search: city sometimes missing
>
> Hi Gerd,
>
> the LocationHook seems to work correct.
> Thorsten wrote: "I added some "echotags" to the style file: mkgmap:city
> is set correct to Nuernberg in all cases."
>
> I guess there is a problem with the address index itself.
>
> WanMil
>
> > Hi Thorsten,
> >
> > it seems that the LocationHook doesn't work in r2912, at least
> > not with an old boundary file created 2012.
> > Looking at it...
> >
> > Gerd
> >
> > > Date: Fri, 27 Dec 2013 10:25:17 +0100
> > > From: kukuk@suse.de
> > > To: mkgmap-dev@lists.mkgmap.org.uk
> > > Subject: Re: [mkgmap-dev] Address search: city sometimes missing
> > >
> > >
> > > Hi Gerd,
> > >
> > > On Fri, Dec 27, Gerd Petermann wrote:
> > >
> > > > Hi Thorsten,
> > > >
> > > >
> > > > I wasn't able to find specific addresses on my Garmin 62s, even
> > > > if I did know that I entered them in OSM.
> > > >
> > > > does that mean that address search works normally but not for these
> > > > cases ?
> > >
> > > The address search works fine except for these cases, yes.
> > >
> > > So entering in my Garmin 62s:
> > > "Deutschland"
> > > "Nurnberg"
> > > "31"
> > > "Von-der-Tann-Strasse"
> > >
> > > will show me the correct address on the map (could be that you need to
> > > select "Von-der-Tann-Strasse (B4R)", depending on the style).
> > >
> > > Entering "30" instead will not find the Address.
> > > If you repeat the same in Mapsource, but leaving the city
> > > field empty, mapsource will find the address in Nuernberg,
> > > but not if you search for Nuernberg.
> > >
> > > Thorsten
> > >
> > > --
> > > Thorsten Kukuk, Senior Architect SLES & Common Code Base
> > > SUSE LINUX Products GmbH, Maxfeldstr. 5, D-90409 Nuernberg
> > > GF: Jeff Hawn, Jennifer Guild, Felix Imendörffer, HRB 16746 (AG Nürnberg)
> > > _______________________________________________
> > > mkgmap-dev mailing list
> > > mkgmap-dev@lists.mkgmap.org.uk
> > > http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/mkgmap-dev
> >
> >
> > _______________________________________________
> > mkgmap-dev mailing list
> > mkgmap-dev@lists.mkgmap.org.uk
> > http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/mkgmap-dev
> >
>
> _______________________________________________
> mkgmap-dev mailing list
> mkgmap-dev@lists.mkgmap.org.uk
> http://www.mkgmap.org.uk/mailman/listinfo/mkgmap-dev
