yes, device shows two hits, and I think both are okay. The on-road-distance between the two buildings is ~170m, so mkgmap cannot combine them to
one entry. Since it also cannot store the "a" in 26/a it has to create two separate entries.
I have no idea why Basecamp shows only the place for 26/a in this case. The road is not split, so maybe Basecamp filters duplicate entries from the list.
Do you think this should be changed?

Hi Lorenzo,
I didn't see that in Basecamp. I'll try on the device tomorrow.

It's the same road with both 26 and 26/A.
Same search as before:
city=Cartoceto
street=Via Sant'anna

Hi Lorenzo,
I think Garmin doesn't allow the combination of numbers and
characters. Normally mkgmap encodes only number for a road,
but maybe you have different roads with the same name and number,e.g
road 1 with 26a and road 2 with 26b.
Do you have an example for me?

Thank you Gerd, I confirm searching for other numbers works.
What about housenumbers with letters and other characters, like 26/A?
If I search for it entering 26 (my Garmin allows only numbers in that
field), in the result list there more 26 and one of them is actually
26/A.

Hi Lorenzo,
house numbers are not stored in the index. The index points to the
place in the NET sub file that contains the informations
about housenumbers. To reproduce your results I've opened your
gmapsupp in Basecamp and searched for a ddresses with
Street = Via Sant'anna and city = Cartoceto and the result list
contains 4 entries:
Via Sant'Anna 20, Cartoceto, Pesaro E Urbino, ITA
Via Sant'Anna 26, Cartoceto, Pesaro E Urbino, ITA
Via Sant'Anna 93, Cartoceto, Pesaro E Urbino, ITA
Via Sant'Anna 357, Cartoceto, Pesaro E Urbino, ITA
When I enter 22 or 81 as additioanl search criteria it is found
close to the right place, so I think the data is stored correctly.
I don't know why the first search shows only some numbers. I assume
the road is stored as 4 fragments and Basecamp shows only the
lowest
number for each.
Does that help?
Gerd
