I've tried to test with non-ascii characters, but it appeared that it doesn't work for me at all. Tried run with --location-autofill=3: Locator City Map contains 0 entries Locator Places Map contains 9216 entries Locator City Map contains 0 entries after resolver run 1 Still unresolved 9216 Locator City Map contains 0 entries after resolver run 2 Still unresolved 9216 After uploading the map to a Garmin 60Csx, "Addresses" option does not appear in the "Find" menu. So, the map behaves the same way as any other map without MDR file. AFAIU, the is_in tag is used for search index. My OSM dump (part of Russia) has several regions, where is_in tag is put on many streets. -- Totus tuus, Glebius. GLEB-RIPE
