I've only just noticed this little aside.  What does this program do
that gdal_contour and friends does not?  I'd particularly like something
that has more intelligent curve fitting (bicubic, perhaps[1]), and some
intelligence to deal with the joins between tiles.  Some inbuilt
Douglas-Puecker simplification would be nice too.
