[mkgmap-dev] Search for address

Sorry if I ask something already discussed.

How can I make a map that is serchable for addresses? Is there a specific tagging in OSM to make search working (the search for address in Italy in my nuvi 255 always find "no address match").

And what about street numbers: is it supported in any way?
