Yes, the GDAL tools are able to do this, I have to do it this way for elevation lines for mapnik rendering. However, finding a binary build and getting them to run in a windows environment is a very tricky affair. You are also required to re-run your GDAL script with coordinates matching or exeeding the boundary values in the .osm files. Due to the different environments, I have given up on calling GDAL tools from Java as I originally planned to. It would be a great advantage if the merging of data could be integrated into the mkgamp Java code so no extensive GDAL environments need to be set up. Either directly into the contour generation or as a pre-processing tool that takes the boundaries from all .osm files and creates a merged DEM file for the outline of all of them. Would this be possible using the Java imaging library or is there a technical catch? bye Nop
