Personally, in a style file I use:
amenity=pub [0x2a11 resolution 20]

which translates as "British Restaurant".  This works for me in England 
but obviously may not be ideal for you...

The "garmin_feature_list.csv" in the resources folder has a list of 
other food-and-drink options.  There's a page in the wiki somewhere that 
describes what appears as what on various Garmin devices, but I can 
never find anything on there.
