[mkgmap-dev] How to name islands (are there transparent polygons?)
From Marko Mäkelä marko.makela at iki.fi on Sat Jun 26 08:48:38 BST 2010
Some time ago, I added the following translations to the polygons file in the default style: place=island & name=* [0x53 resolution 18] place=islet & name=* [0x53 resolution 20] Before this addition, islands were not named on the map. The polygon style is documented like this in resources/garmin_feature_list.csv: polygon|0x80|0x53||flats||Flatland One paddler complained to me that the named islands look different (and harder to distinguish from water) than unnamed islands. I believe that the unnamed islands would be "empty background", rendered in the Garmin yellow (or black in night mode). Are there any transparent polygon types that could be used for naming islands? How do paid-for Garmin maps represent islands? Marko
