I use this feature for contour line layers in my topo map: http://www.kleineisel.de/blogs/index.php/osmmap/ In my eTrex Legend HCx I can switch these layers on and off individually. Some of the newer devices can't do this AFAIK. Would be nice to know how the 30 behaves in this respect.
