[mkgmap-dev] Problem with splitter
From GerdP gpetermann_muenchen at hotmail.com on Mon Mar 19 10:04:08 GMT 2012
Hi Wolfgang, hi Richard, thanks for all your input. I think I know now what is needed, so it is time now to try some coding. The biggest open problem that I see is that splitter can be used to split a large file like europe.osm.pbf on a "small" machine if you specify e.g. max-areas=2. Using this parameter in r200 means that splitter forgets almost everything except for the content of the areas.list after writing the data for the first two tiles. Since you use this parameter only if your available heap is too small to process more tiles at a time, I should avoid using more heap, so I probably have to write something to a tempfile... I expect some results at the end of the week.
