Hmm very weird, I get better results if I use mkgmap:bicycle.
remove-short-arcs=0 solved the other issue, thanks Gerd.

In Basecamp the routing results are better, because you can play with avoid motorways, major highways etc.
so the results are much better (but still not optimal).
