Hi Gerd, i'm using osmconvert since long time to cut a Germany excerpt from the Europe excerpt from the GeoFabrik. Osmconvert, even in the 32 bits version, has no problems with files greater 4GB. The Europe extract is >10GB and the excerpt, containing Germany with a 50 km surrounding and the island of iceland is nearly 5GB in size. Never had any problems with osmconvert. Your second part is interesting. When the minutely reproduction failed for 12 hours, it is very likely, that the daily diff reproduction was corrupted too. So i downloaded a corrupted diff, which itself damaged my dataset. Hmm, have to consider stricter tests, before deleting the old dataset(s). Regards and btw. Happy Easter to all!
