The options I did use (stripped down):

mkgmap --precomp-sea=sea --bounds=bounds --location-autofill=bounds,is_in,nearest --add-pois-to-areas --pois-to-areas-placement=entrance=main;entrance=yes;building=entrance;barrier=entrance --reduce-point-density=4 --reduce-point-density-polygon=8 --min-size-polygon=8 --polygon-size-limits=24:8,18:4,17:2,16:0 --make-opposite-cycleways --name-tag-list=name,place_name,loc_name --link-pois-to-ways --route --net --index --housenumbers --gmapsupp -c maps.cfg
