Hi Gerd

What an amazing achievement!

I noticed that cgpsmapper and MapTK already use this 'trick' for rivers etc 
but not mkgmap - this actually made it easier to unravel mkgmap's lines.

As a matter of interest how long does a delta need to be for it to be
treated as a special case?
