Garmin (http://www8.garmin.com/support/download_details.jsp?id=5553)
only provide direct access to Garmin Express these days.

Running 7z on GarminExpressInstaller.exe does unpack many files but
nothing that looks like the firmware image. That fits with the
description of Garmin Express that seems to search for the latest
firware, presumably using the missing URIs perhaps to a ftp server.

I looked again at www.gawisp.com/perry/agree.html and saw that the
*.gcd files were there after all. My apologies. The file with the latest
time stamp there is eTrex20x_30x_Webupdater__230.gcd. So it is not
obvious which firmware version that represents. It does not seem to be
4.30: perhaps it really is 2.30?

I have a copy of the 4.30 GUPDATE.GCD which is 9467284 bytes long and
has a sha512 checksum of

1dd7262da8566a153a40bb65fc36238069253afc0b7a0a670733633df1d6864864198a5d6e1b09e37b4606725752ce523e03da2893d45ee5a442d308a0d4b2bb

I downloaded that from
http://download.garmin.com/software/eTrex20_30_Webupdater__430.gcd which
is still there and seems to be the current "missing" URI.

It seems probable that future firmware versions will follow the same
pattern.
