[mkgmap-dev] Building display.jar fails
From Gerd Petermann gpetermann_muenchen at hotmail.com on Sun Dec 5 09:19:31 GMT 2021
Hi Felix, sorry, was a bit too fast. You see 0003e0cb | 002ff6 | 54 52 4b 20 | [1058] str: TRK 0003e0cf | 002ffa | fd 2e | Index? 12029 in section Mdr17 when there is a road name that starts with 'TRK '. Mdr 17 is a rather small section which contains only the first 4 characters of strings (note the blank 0x20) You should not find an Mdr 7 entry which contains a string 'TRK' (without blank) when you analyse the index that is written for the PC. I wonder if --split-name-index makes much sense with your style. I've added some debug code to print the strings which make it into the index: For a name like 'G1 TRK NCN 10 RHEINDAMMRADWEG & RCN 35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' the option adds the following entries: indexing 'TRK NCN 10 RHEINDAMMRADWEG & RCN 35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'NCN 10 RHEINDAMMRADWEG & RCN 35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing '10 RHEINDAMMRADWEG & RCN 35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'RHEINDAMMRADWEG & RCN 35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'RCN 35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing '35 LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'LIECHTENSTEINER RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'RHEINTALROUTE + 555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing '555 FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'FÜNF SCHLÖSSERTOUR' indexing 'SCHLÖSSERTOUR' For a rather normal road name like 'PLANKNER STR' it just says indexing 'STR' So, STR woud be a good candidate for mdr7-excl. I could add code to check if the indexed string starts with a word that is given in --mdr7-del and skip those but I doubt that this will make a big difference. Dezember 2021 09:32 An: Development list for mkgmap Betreff: Re: [mkgmap-dev] Building display.jar fails Hi Felix, I think the names that you see come from names like "PHILOSOPHENWEG G1 TRK LWN 156 GAENGLESEE" in combination with --split-name-index. I really wonder how you calculate road names like these: 'TRK LWN 105 TRIESENBERG - ROTABODA-SAMIA - SCHLOSS VADUZ - VADUZ + 106 GAFLEI - ROTABODA - TRIESENBERG + 141 TRIESENBERG - BAHOLZ - VADUZ' 'BERGWALD G1 TRK LWN 121 MAUREN - RUGGELL + 123 BENDERN - ST. CORNELI (A) + 120 BENDERN - MAUREN + 35 MAUREN - BUEELKAPPILI - VORDERER SCHELLENBERG' In what situation are they usefull? Which device is able to display such a name? Some have a length > 250. Anyway, I see two ways to reduce the noise in mkgmap: - add code to avoid that --split-name-index adds index entries for name parts which are listed in mdr7-del (should have done this anyway) - add a new option which tells mkgmap that --mdr7-del should remove all substrings, not only suffixes (the effect will be rather small, looking at those long names) Gerd ________________________________________ Von: mkgmap-dev <mkgmap-dev-bounces at lists.mkgmap.org.uk> im Auftrag von Felix Hartmann <extremecarver at gmail.com> Gesendet: Samstag, 4. But yeah I found out my list was more or less complete - just the problem that they are not removed if it is only called say "T3 pth". Another improvement - it would be great if the display tool could say file does not exist vs could not open file. Right now the message is always could not open file. MdrDisplay tries to open the MDR sub file in the gmapsupp. If that fails you may not have such a file in your gmapsupp.img (no index) or the file itself is corrupted or doesn't exist in the directory where you executed the command. My understanding is that you want to print the string table (Mdr 15), this doesn't exist in the gmapsupp, only in the *mdr.img for the PC. I think you have to use parameter --print=15 for this section, it is ommitted by default.
